Spent the day with Mom. She is shutting down. No food or drink, only sips of water from a toothette. I have been crying off and on and have asked my sister to come. I need her now.

I'm thinking of you and your mom. You are courageous and will continue to be.

what is a toothette? i used to wipe my mother's mouth with a sponge on a stick which she could suck on.

she is alright, robyn, and you will be too; not today maybe but soon.

Hi Esther, a toothette is a sponge on stick. Mom seems to get some relief from sucking on it.

Thank you for your posts. It helps me to know that I'm not alone in this.

You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers, Robyn. I know this is hard on you and I'm glad you have asked for your sister. (((((hugs)))))

Thank you for keeping us posted, Robyn. You remain in my prayers. I hope that your sister will arrive soon to be with you.

What is hospice telling you? Is your mom up at all or totally immobile at this point? Is she responding to you? Please KNOW that she does know that you are there with her!

We used the toothette as well. I also kept Mom's lips coated with chapstick/ vasoline as they got really dry when she refused fluids.

Thinking of you. ((hugs))
