Today Mom and I decorated the Christmas tree. It looks lovely! We reminisced about the different ornaments as we put each one on the tree. Allyson called while we were doing this and we talked for a while. Later in the day I called my brother and talked with both him and my sister-in-law. Then I handed the phone over to Mom and she chatted with him for quite a while. It makes her happy to talk to him, but she also misses him very much.

It is COLD here and the snow is deep. I'll bet we have at least a foot of snow. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.....

reading this reminded me that your mom and mine seem to be at similar stages.
with that in mind i want to say i'm really glad you're on a waiting list now. the care facility experience is much better done sooner than later, i think.
the transition may suck (though, not for every patient) but once that's over she'll be one of the more alert ones and better able to benefit from the experience at her stage.

stay warm.

Thanks Rick. I figure we might be ready by summer. We'll see. Did your Mom put up a big fuss? We know that our Mom will.

yes. it took her at least a month to settle in to it. it was a difficult transition and a set back for her, but i'm convinced now it was the correct decision.
