National Geographic has a great graphic entitled "Who Gives Parents a Break?" which shows the countries throughout the world who have guaranteed leave for mothers and fathers as of 2006. There it is, the US, with no paid leave for mothers, let alone parents. Russia grants at least 52 weeks of leave, most countries in Europe grant at least 14 weeks with full wages or at least 52 weeks and at least 1/2 wages. 'The consensus is that bonding time with parents is good for a newborn's health and development.'
Seems like the richest nation in the world can do more to take care of it's citizens.
